File predominately consists of submissions and briefs for the DFO public meetings in Vanderhoof and Smithers concerning the Kemano Completion Project. Includes related correspondence, news releases, and Shirvell's notes as a panel member during the public meetings.

Six metal storage cases containing primarily slides depicting drill core sections in wooden storage trays. Cases contain inventories of slide images as well as annotations which document the year, drill hole number, and the length along the drill hole from which core sections are taken. In addition to the documentation of drill core sections, the cases contain slides depicting the following subjects: “Representative samples” of drill core fragments, drill core fragments in perspective, “physical characteristics” of the drill cores and the storage trays, the pit mine, a worker in a plaid shirt, close up shots of the geology of the working face, and images annotated “SHOTS OF JADE BOULDER CORE J5-J1”. Five slides originally filed separately and stamp dated “Jul. ‘73” depict what is speculated to be employees working on the diamond drilling project include 2 images annotated ‘R. Dickin Aug ‘72’, ‘I. Oliver Aug ‘73’, ‘S. Zimmer Aug ‘73’, and ‘core shack ’73’. The cases contain 234 7x7cm slides and at least 8 5x5 cm slides which are duplicates of the remaining images. The file also contains a slide strip containing several 7x7 cm slide images.

File consists of a photocopy of a draft of a Canadian Manuscript Report of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences by Brown and Levings entitled "Distribution and Stomach Contents of Potential Fish Predators of Juvenile Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) in the Nechako and Stuart Rivers, B.C.".

File consists of a report entitled "Diver Observations of Juvenile Chinook Salmon Overwintering in the Nicola River, British Columbia" prepared for DFO by B. Emmett and H.I. McElderry of Archipelago Marine Research.

File consists of the original version a report prepared by Grant Hazelwood for the BC Conservation Officer Service entitled "Documentation of 'Noname Creek' [Station 13 + 500] on Fiddler Mainline forest road as suitable habitat for supporting Tailed Frogs [Ascaphus truei], a Blue Listed species in British Columbia".

File consists of a draft copy of an Aluminum Company of Canada Kemano Completion Hydroelectric Development Technical Memorandum by Envirocon entitled "Documentation of the Habitat Modelling Process".

File consists of photocopied documents from various sources sent to Shirvell from John Hummel, a researcher for the Cheslatta Band. Includes correspondence from Hummel; internal DFO memoranda copied by Alderdice; a 1981 paper by W.G. Hazelwood entitled "Alcan Environmental Baseline Studies: A Critique"; anti-Kemano material written by Dana Wagg and John Hummel, Cheslatta Band researchers; and the "Story of the Surrender of the Cheslatta Reserves on April 21, 1952" by Mike Robertson".

File consists of a letter from Dilip Mathur with attachments of photocopies of records from the case of the Philadelphia Electric Power Company and the Susquehanna Power Company before the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

File contains an original "Do's and Don't's When Marking Stands For Cutting" booklet illustrated by J. Pickford.

Series consists of Shirvell’s records and collected material related to his activities as a research scientist, particularly his involvement in the Kemano Completion Project. Shirvell’s records are arranged into six subseries:

• literature review, consisting of published material;
• research and publications, consisting of Shirvell’s publications and research material;
• Envirocon and Alcan, consisting of Envirocon and Alcan publications and records;
• Nechako River court action, consisting of records related to the DFO-Alcan court case;
• Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, consisting of material relating to NFCP; and,
• BCUC Kemano Completion Project Review, consisting of records relating to Shirvell’s participation in the public review.
  The majority of the material in all subseries consists of copies of publications related to Shirvell’s activities and research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Shirvell’s research records comprise raw data, field notes, memoranda, and draft reports, many of which relate to his 1986 Nechako River salmon overwintering studies. Records regarding the Nechako River court action range from 1980 to 1987, and include correspondence, internal DFO memoranda, legal documents, and related scientific reports. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report.

Series consists of Alderdice’s records and collected material related to the Kemano Completion Project and his activities as a fisheries biologist. Early material includes research records on total gas pressure and flow analysis research, particularly in regards to the Nechako River, which Alderdice was working on in anticipation of the Nechako River court action. Records regarding the Nechako River court action range from 1984 to 1987, and include correspondence, internal DFO memoranda, and legal documents. Records created by Alderdice after his retirement from DFO in 1987 document his involvement with the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review and his connection to the Siddon v. Mair court case. Also includes copies of publications related to Alderdice’s research and activities, such as reprints of journal articles, scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings.

Series consists of Hartman’s records and collected material related to his activities as a research scientist, particularly his involvement in the Kemano Completion Project. The majority of the material consists of copies of publications related to Hartman’s research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Includes correspondence regarding the Nechako River court action between DFO, Alcan, and the province and scientific reports that were created in anticipation of the case. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report. In addition, includes records and publications relating to the Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, the Nechako Watershed Council, the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund, and the Nechako River Alliance.

Series consists of Mundie’s records and collected material related to the Kemano Completion Project. Mainly includes copies of publications related to Mundie’s research and activities, such as reprints of journal articles, scientific reports, and government publications. Also includes a small portion of correspondence and internal DFO memoranda regarding the Nechako River court action.

Fonds consists of the research records of Dr. Paul Sanborn, a University of Northern British Columbia faculty member in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management.

Collection consists of 1 map of "Status of Sustained-Yield Forestry Programme as at December 31, 1969" by British Columbia Department of Lands, Forests, and Water Resources and 10 pages of handwritten instructions for opening a ranger station in Smithers and annual Forest Insect and Disease Survey, dated 1980.

File consists of a faxed copy of the document "Nechako River Flow Requirements for Fish and Fish Habitat: Technical Position of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans" and accompanying memoranda.
