These remote-sensing aerial photographs were taken by Lockwood Survey Corporation Ltd. under contract for the B.C. Forest Service. Some photographs are annotated to show logging activity; clearcuts, slash piles, log booms, and tree debris on the water are also visible in some of the images. No detailed location information or index accompanies the photographs. These historically important aerial photographs depict Williston Lake soon after its creation in 1968 with the building of the W.A.C. Bennett Dam on the Peace River. Also depicted are the rivers and tributaries that empty into the Williston Reservoir, such as the Finlay River, the Ospika River, and the Omineca River.

The identification coding on these photographs can be interpreted as follows:

  • The largest number on the leftmost side is the frame number for the individual photograph.
  • The following code to the right in the format "B) 70-38" is currently unknown, but may refer to an internal project number for the Lockwood Survey Corporation.
  • The 6" may refer to the camera's focal length in inches.
  • Next is "17,150 ASL" which is 17,150 feet Above Sea Level.
  • Following is "152.63" which refers to the camera's focal length in millimeters, which equals 6 inches.
  • The "W1339" may refer to the reel, but that is unconfirmed.
  • "1 AUG 70" is the date the photos were taken.

Includes: "RE: Heritage House" fax message from Kent Sedgwick to Kirk Gable (23 May 2001); "House at 1589 - 7th Ave". typescript letter to Public Hearing RE: by-law 4913 from the Heritage Advisory Committee (8 Apr. 1987); and "Ingenika Tribal Administration" typescript letter from Lorna Wandio to the Mayor and City Council of Prince George (19 Sept. 1998). Also includes photographs depicting a house at the address 1589 7th Avenue, Prince George (8 Apr. 1987).

File consists of notes and reproductions relating a 1913 amendment to the Land Act, which is the British Columbia legislation used by the government to transfer land to the public for community, industrial, or business use. The 1913 amendment stated that land would be free to settlers with proof of three years residence or pre-empting unsurveyed or crown land after March 1913. File primarily consists of photocopied newspaper articles discussing the amendment.

File contains photographs depicting individuals at Cassiar on strike in the winter time, marching down roads, holding picket signs, carrying small children who hold signs, and driving cars covered with strike slogans. Many of the signs read "U.S.W.A. LOCAL 6536" (United Steel Workers of America).

  • Two photographs depict a man with a video recorder. Some photos feature plant buildings, two were taken at night. One photograph depicts a note that reads: "THERE WILL BE NO AFTERNOON SHIFT THURSDAY NOVEMBER 5th 1970."
  • Many photos depict areas in the mine showing snow impacts, fissures in the mountain, asbestos evidence and other environmental activity. The picket signs contain protests regarding contracts, safety, environment, and ethics.
  • Handwritten annotation on original envelope containing photographs: "Pictures 1970 Strike."
  • Integrated into file are fourteen photos from file marked "Mr. B. Pewsey" that depict an area where a large rock fell, measuring tape, and protest sign.
