This fonds illustrates Walt Taylor’s activities as a social activist in the Okanagan region of B.C. in the 1970s, and his involvement with political-environmental activist movements in the Bulkley Valley-Telkwa-Smithers area c.1980s-1990s. The Taylor fonds includes records of the Skeena Round Table for a Sustainable Society, the Northwest Study Conference Society and the Waging Peace Society; as well as, background research compiled for Taylor’s publication "Waging Peace for a Living: An Action Plan for survival of life on earth", (Victoria: Trafford Publishing, 1999). The Taylor fonds also contains records of significance relating to proposed economic developments, such as open-pit mining, fishing and forestry policies and nuclear power; and documents pertaining to political-environmental actions conducted by Northern BC stakeholders such as First Nations (Gitskan and Wet'su'wet'en) and NGO’s such as the Telkwa Educational Action Committee of Householders. Types of records comprising this fonds include correspondence to and from activist organizations; circulars to society members; background papers on social activist issues; background reports on BC First Nations environmental and land claims issues, background studies on environmental & economic impacts of industrial developments proposed for Northern BC, newspaper clippings, and various publications.
Taylor, WaltSeries consists of Hartman’s records and collected material related to his activities as a research scientist, particularly his involvement in the Kemano Completion Project. The majority of the material consists of copies of publications related to Hartman’s research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Includes correspondence regarding the Nechako River court action between DFO, Alcan, and the province and scientific reports that were created in anticipation of the case. Al Elsey compiled this commercial video using footage he filmed in 1964 and 1965 in the Bella Coola area. The video provides a compilation of film footage shot by Elsey and is narrated by him describing the activities related to the Grease Trail. Description verso of VHS commercial box reads:
"Al Elsey's friendship with Margaret Siwallace with other people of the Nuxalk Nation dates back over fifty years. This, his premier documentary, produced from vintage 16 mm movie film taken in the Bella Coola Valley in 1963, invites us to witness their tradition of making Ooligan Grease. The process, followed for centuries by the Nuxalk and other coastal First Nations people, was of such importance that their trading routes from the Coast to the Interior of British Columbia were called Grease Trails. The Ooligan were netted by the ton each year, returning from the ocean to spawn in early spring. The destruction of the Ooligan runs in the Bella Coola and other coast rivers of Southern B.C. probably resulted from over-fishing by shrimp trawl draggers during the late 1990s. GREASE shows catching the Ooligan with conical nets and dugout canoes, rotting them in "stink boxes," then rendering and purifying the Grease. Elsey's captivating narrative and brilliant footage transport us back to another time on the shores of the Bella Coola River."

Subseries consists of Dr. Ainley's requests for funding for a variety of projects throughout her career. Most of Ainley's research was funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grants but she also applied for funding from other sources. These research projects include "First Nations Women and Environmental Knowledge in Northern North America - A Preliminary Investigation," "Biographical Research on Women Scientists in Canada," "Women and Scientific Work in Canada, 1890-1960," "Engendering Science: Twelve Biographies," "Women and Scientific Work in Canada. III. "Women's Work in Government and Industry, 1890-1990," "Engendering Canadian Scientists," and her research on Mabel McIntosh. Not all of these projects were accepted and funded. Subseries predominately consists of grant application forms and correspondence with granting agencies.
