The Canadian Provost Corps, initially staffed by active members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), was established in 1939-40 as the first Provost company to deploy overseas with the first Canadian Division. Upon their arrival in England, they set up headquarters at the British army camp in Aldershot. The establishment of the Canadian Provost Corps marked the beginning of the Military Police of the Canadian Army.
