The subseries also contains material involved in Weller’s academic research on healthcare in northern regions, specifically the projects titled "The Politics of Health in the Circumpolar North,” "The Delivery of Health Care to Underserviced Areas,” and "Health Care Delivery in Northern Hinterlands.” It also contains research pertaining to the Canada Health Act of 1984. This grew out of a field trip with Ministry of Forests range personnel to the Stikine and Tuya River valleys, near Telegraph Creek BC on August 27-28, 2007. (Two pedons were sampled in 2007, BC07-03 and BC07-04, but those results were not included in the paper.)
In August 2008, Dr. Paul Sanborn returned to the Stikine to sample pedon BC08-06, after field work in Yukon which collected the other two pedons used in the paper, from near Carmacks (Y08-39) and Kluane Lake (Y08-41). (An additional pedon from Kluane, Y08-43, was sampled and analyzed, but it was from a forested site and was not included in the paper.)

The subseries also contains files for chapters of a manuscript; however many files are empty. The empty files are titled: “Definitions and Theories, Chp 1,” “The Land and the Climate, Chp 2,” “Peoples and Patterns of Settlement, Chp 3,” “The Settlement of the Provincial North, Chp 4,” “The Decline of the Resource Economy, Chp 6,” “Race, Ethnicity and the Canadian Provincial North, Chp 10,” and “Conclusions, Chp 14.” There may be connections between this subseries and subseries 3, as the files for earlier projects appear to have been used in later research.

Subseries consists of Dr. Ainley's requests for funding for a variety of projects throughout her career. Most of Ainley's research was funded through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) grants but she also applied for funding from other sources. These research projects include "First Nations Women and Environmental Knowledge in Northern North America - A Preliminary Investigation," "Biographical Research on Women Scientists in Canada," "Women and Scientific Work in Canada, 1890-1960," "Engendering Science: Twelve Biographies," "Women and Scientific Work in Canada. III. "Women's Work in Government and Industry, 1890-1990," "Engendering Canadian Scientists," and her research on Mabel McIntosh. Not all of these projects were accepted and funded. Subseries predominately consists of grant application forms and correspondence with granting agencies.

Adam Zimmerman was the comptroller for Noranda Mines at the time and monitored the Free Piston Development Company's progress; the relationship between the companies was ended in 1967.

For July 1-7, 2009, Dr. Paul Sanborn did the first soils field research at the Fort Selkirk volcanic field in central Yukon, with helicopter support and funding from the Yukon Geological Survey.
Initial findings were published in the 2009 edition of Yukon Exploration and Geology, but this paper did not include most of the laboratory data:

Forest soil sulphur research was a continuing interest for Dr. Paul Sanborn for more than 30 years, beginning at UBC in the mid-1980s when he took a graduate course in Forest Soils from Dr. Tim Ballard. Among the things that he learned was that soils in much of BC were deficient in sulphur (S). Simultaneously, he became aware of the large amount of research on prescribed fire in BC forests, with broadcast burning being the main method of site preparation across much of the province at that time.
Sanborn undertook various projects in this area of research:
- UBC Postdoctoral Project on effects of prescribed fire on sulphur in forest soils (1988-90)
- Cluculz retrospective study (E.P. 886.10) with the BC Ministry of Forests and UNBC
- Sulphur stable isotope tracer study (E.P. 886.15) with the BC Ministry of Forests and UNBC
