Series contains administrative records regarding the manufacturing division and Noranda Manufacturing Ltd. Also includes records of Noranda's manufacturing companies: Canada Wire and Cable, the Free Piston Development Company, Noranda Aluminum, Noranda Metal Industries, and Wire Rope Industries.

Includes correspondence regarding the Nechako River court action between DFO, Alcan, and the province and scientific reports that were created in anticipation of the case. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report. In addition, includes records and publications relating to the Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, the Nechako Watershed Council, the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund, and the Nechako River Alliance.

Adam Zimmerman held many external directorships with companies and organizations outside of Noranda. In these roles, Zimmerman provided a creative contribution and improvement to the company boards by providing dispassionate and objective criticism, as well as and contributing to the development strategy of the company. He was not an employee of these companies; he held these external directorships roles while simultaneously being a senior executive with Noranda.

The records in this series are only a representative fraction of the external directorships held by Zimmerman. These include board of director records from Algoma Steel, Koninklijke Nederlandse Papierfabriek (KNP), non-profit organizations, universities, and other companies. Also includes correspondence, fundraising material, and meeting materials.

  The majority of the material in all subseries consists of copies of publications related to Shirvell’s activities and research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Shirvell’s research records comprise raw data, field notes, memoranda, and draft reports, many of which relate to his 1986 Nechako River salmon overwintering studies. Records regarding the Nechako River court action range from 1980 to 1987, and include correspondence, internal DFO memoranda, legal documents, and related scientific reports. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report.

Series contains records created and accumulated by Adam Zimmerman at the Noranda Inc. (formerly Noranda Mines) during his tenures as Noranda's Assistant Comptroller (1958-1961), Comptroller (1961-1966), Vice-President and Comptroller (1966-1974), Executive Vice-President and Director (1974-1982), and President and CEO (1982-1987). As Noranda's Comptroller, Zimmerman had a large role in Noranda Mines' legal action regarding the strike at Gaspe Copper Mines; records that represent this are contained in the legal records sub-subseries. Later in his career, as a director and Noranda's President and CEO, Zimmerman had a high-level administrative role with Noranda's mining division. Sub-subseries represent this with administrative records and reference files for Noranda's many mining and metallurgical operations.

Also contains records regarding Noranda's exploration companies and the Noranda Sales Corporation, which sold and marketed the mining division's ore and products.

Records include material relating to Runka's involvement with these professional associations, as well as collected professional resource material relating to agriculture and environment topics. Also includes Runka's business card collection.

Series consists of the business records of G.G. Runka Land Sense Ltd., Gary Runka's consultancy business (co-owned with Joan Sawicki until 1991). G.G. Runka Land Sense Limited was incorporated as a company on 30 Nov. 1978 and dissolved on 30 Nov. 2018. Most business activity ceased after Gary Runka's death in July 2013. The company provided comprehensive professional services in land inventory, environmental assessment, integrated resource management, land and water use conflict resolution and interdisciplinary land use planning. Over the course of the company's operation, Gary Runka and his firm consulted on 681 assignments ranging from very large projects (such as the Site C project) to small residential/commercial land capability assessments.

The records within this series include company information documents, company client and project lists, and an early company accounting ledger. Also included are Runka's business "Communications Planners", which include a page for every business contact with summarized notes about communication with that individual; these provide a very detailed record of company business.
