Kent Sedgwick’s research subject files contain original research notes, interviews and oral histories, news clippings, and collected primary and secondary sources. The series also includes both original and reproduction photographs, audio recordings, and maps. The subject files primarily relate to the history, urban planning, and historical geography of the Central Interior of British Columbia, especially Prince George area and the East Line communities over the course of the 20th century. They also include extensive notes on geographic features, landscapes, interpretative trails, architectural history, industrial history, history of Western exploration and land survey, and the First Nations history of the region.

File consists of newspaper clippings and notes relating to the history of Prince George from 1920-1929. Includes the following clipped articles from the Prince George Citizen newspaper: "In 1920s, Prince George was marketed as a dynamic growing city" (Dec. 2008); "Board of Trade report indicates city economy was on upswing in 1929" (May 2008); "City had a solid professional roster in 1921" (2007); "Rosy prospects seen for our city in 1920" (2006); "City had rowdy political meetings in 1920" (2003); and "1921: Prince George touted as the 'Future Hub of B.C.'" (1999).

File consists of notes and reproductions relating to log buildings in the central interior of British Columbia. Includes: "Log school" typescript letter from Kent Sedgwick to Susan Spoke, publisher for Canadian Heritage (23 June 1985). File also includes photographs depicting a log building and its building process (1985).

File consists of a CD, an audiocassette, and a typed transcript of an interview with Trelle Morrow conducted by Kent Sedgwick. Trelle Morrow was an architect in Prince George between 1950 and 2000 and during the interview in 2007 he was a retired member of the Architectural Institute of B.C. The interview includes discussions on the buildings Trelle Morrow contributed to in Prince George and his life surrounding his work.

File consists of notes, clippings, and reproductions relating to the Volksport trail in Prince George. The trail starts at the Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum and follows the Heritage River Trail through parks along the Fraser and Nechako Rivers with some residential walking. Subseries consists of material collected and created by Kent Sedgwick for research regarding various areas within Prince George. These files include material on neighbourhoods and notable areas within the city, as well as the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George. Notable areas include the Fort George Canyon, downtown Prince George, and Cottonwood Island. The files primarily contain notes and newspaper clippings relating to the development and history of these areas.

Subseries consists of materials collected and created by Kent Sedgwick for research on prominent individuals within Prince George and northern/central British Columbia. These individuals include various photographers, John Warren Meyer, Fannie Kinney, Father Adrien Morice, Henry Spencer Palmer, and Bridget Moran. The files also contain various other obituaries and materials regarding prominent individuals in Prince George.

File consists of a duotang containing typescript document titled "Pioneer interviews" prepared by the Prince George University Women's Club that lists oral history holdings at the Prince George Public Library.

Includes: "CNC Fraser River Syndicate" handwritten notes by Kent Sedgwick (2005); and "Fraser River Syndicate proposal for a pulp mill in the Prince George region, 1920" reproduction of the 14 Dec. 1920 typescript document. File also includes photocopies of newspaper articles regarding the City of Prince George's decision to allow the opening of the McArthur Sawmill and updates on the projects development.
