Biographical history

Russell R. Walker was born in Stratford, Ontario on June 16, 1888. He came to British Columbia in 1906 at 17 years of age to join the North Coast Land Company to take charge of their land business in 1910. For the next six years, Russell's activities were centred in the Fort George area. He opened the first land office in Fort George in May 8, 1910. He pitched in the first ball game of the city's new team in 1914. He was the first secretary of the district's Conservative Association and publisher and editor for its first newspaper--the Fort George Herald.
