The Prince George Spinners and Weavers Guild was founded in 1974 by a group of women interested in fostering the art of spinning and weaving. Their areas of activity included teaching people how to spin and weave, collecting looms, collecting weaving and spinning tools, collecting literature and other items related to the craft such as yarn. By March 1977, the guild's constitution was finalized, and the guild officially became a registered society. Between the years 1974-2009, the guild went by the name Prince George Spinners and Weavers Guild. In 2009 the society's name was changed to the Prince George Fibre Arts Guild.
