1961 - Drillmasters on North Ridge

Photograph depicts men standing near two Atlas Copco Drillmasters (blasthole drills). These are precision hammer drills which had their own power source. Large bags of ammonium nitrate in foreground, mountaintops in background. The men depicted here were likely members of the explosive crew. It is believed that this photo was taken on the North ridge, near the cirque dump. Handwritten annotation on verso of photograph: "1961".

1961 - Dryer Burners

Photograph depicts a man near the diesel-fired burners of the ore dryers. The large pipes and valves above were part of the fuel supply system fed by Cassiar's fuel tank farm which also supplied the power house generators. The dryer section of the mill received ore from the crushing plant by tramline and truck. These burners blasted the ore with hot air, and dried ore to desired moisture content before it was sent to the dry rock storage building and stored for mill use. 1965 - Mine Bus parked at old Mine Dry Change House

Photograph depicts unknown men entering back of bus, second bus on left. Old Mine Dry Change House in right background; power lines, vehicles, and trees in left background. These buses transported workers from the plant to the mine. Small pickup trucks called "crummies" with cabin mounted in box were used when traveling on the steeper road to the South Peak.

Photograph depicts four men standing in front of two log cabins. It is believed that these men are also featured at Meikle's Cabin in item 2009.5.3.17. Forest in background, miscellaneous items on ground in yard. Handwritten photo caption on verso and recto of this photo reads: "at Ah Yee at Giscome." It is believed that Ah Yee was the first Chinese store keeper at Giscome Portage in 1910.

Bert Leboe at Hudson’s Hope

Item is a photograph of Bert Leboe, MP for Peace River, watching the construction of a trading boat traditionally used in the Peace / Parsnip area. These boats were used to conduct surveys and transport supplies during the construction of the W.A.C. Bennett Dam.
