Subseries consists of photographic material pertaining to building construction at Cassiar and Clinton Creek. Photos were taken of all the major structures during the building of the Cassiar plant in the early 1950s and the Clinton Creek plant in the early 1970s. There are also photographs pertaining to the new mill that was built at Cassiar in 1970-1971. Smaller scale construction jobs have been included: police station, powerhouse expansion, fiber storage building, sewage collection and treatment plants, accommodations and outside work camps.

File contains photographs documenting the construction of Cassiar's new mill building. Photos depict early excavation, foundations, framework, construction of all seven stories, sheeting, siding, and roof tarring. Also included are photos depicting the large model of the mill, as well as construction work done on the tramline. Photos taken inside the mill depict flooring work, and milling machinery including feed chutes, screens, fans, wheelabrators, control panels, electrical panels, conveyor systems, vacuum systems, and the fan-driven air system that transported the fiber. Many photos depict construction workers, building supplies, worksites, and equipment including cranes, bulldozers, tractors, hauling trucks and trailer flatbeds. Some photos depict aerial views from the new mill and feature the plantsite, tramline, mine road, mountains, and valley.

Photograph depicts a steam grab belonging to the Vancouver Pile Driving & Contracting Co. Ltd, mounted on a scow and transferring gravel from another scow on the seaward side and rear of the wall. The portion in the foreground will become solid ground but it is now exposed to tides. The construction of the new pier is to the west of the Centennial Pier on the site of the original Hastings Mill.

Humphrey Construction Ltd based out of North Vancouver. The photographs depict the foundation, installation of machinery, erection of steel frame building, and conveyor system. D.G Garret Foreman was in charge of the project.

Handwritten annotations in pencil on recto read: “PRINCE RUPERT AREA B.C.”, “The Rev S.B. Priston, Farm Cottage Farm lane, Fulham. Thankyou so very much for all you did last night. I am so sorry I did not see you after it was all over to thank you.
