Cassiar Asbestos Corporation Proposed Tramway Riblet

This blueprint shows the side profile of the proposed tramway to be built in Cassiar. It includes scale drawings of the crusher building, power house and support structures. The degree of tilt of the support structures are marked down where applicable. The side profile is divided into five sections due to the scaled height in elevation and the lack of drawing space. Annotation written along the leading edge of the blueprint reads "Proposed Tramway Riblet".

Layout of Transfer Station and Operational Discharge of Jig Back and Loading of Monocable

This blueprint shows the top-down (showing the plan view) and the side view (showing elevation) of the transfer station layout. The process and operation of the jig back discharge and monocable loading are also included. Relevant measurements and dimensions are included as well as locations of the loading chute, the loading area, monocable as well as empty and loaded rope lines.

Cassiar Asbestos Corporation 1972 Bench Plans

A set of 13 maps showing approximate waste extraction areas for different benches during certain months of 1972. Extraction dates are included accompanied by estimated total tonnages for each planned extraction area. All plans are hand drawn using colored pencils, lead and black ink. Approximate calculations of extraction tonnages are included within certain months. Numerical bench markers are included. Total tonnages from the previous year and previous surveys are included within certain plans.

6290 Bench Plan for November 1972

This map depicts the generalized pit layout and estimated waste extraction areas for 6290 bench for the month of November. Annotated details include numerical bench markers and waste extraction dates. The hand drawn plan consists of solid and dotted lines drawn with green, orange, red, blue and lead pencil.

6350 Bench Plan for 1972

This map depicts the pit layout and estimated waste extraction areas for 6350 bench. Extraction dates accompanied by its total tonnages are located within each planned area. Annotated details include extraction dates, approximate total tonnages per area as well as extraction dates, total planned and broken tonnages and total tonnages from December 31, 1970 from a survey done in September 30. The hand drawn plan consists of solid lines drawn with red, green and orange colored pencils.

Ore Type and Geology Map

This map depicts the ore type and geology that can be found among each of the bench layers. Classifications and grades of ore are included within it. Different bench layers are included in the map. Annotations include a title in the back of the map written out as "1972 BENCH PLANS".

1979 Operating Budget Proposal

This collection is proposed Cassiar development for the operating budget in 1979. The photographs are of poster-size presentation information. Topics covered include: operating graph of cost vs. fibre production, productivity rates, waste removal, ore mining cost vs. ton, primary crushing cost vs. ton, ore delivery cost vs. ton transported, stockpile drying and storage cost vs. ton feed, milling cost vs. ton fibre, establishment of funds allocated to townsite, staff, O&T and P&M, three proposed plans for 1979 and the requirements and costs for these proposals.

Fire Engines

This file is Cassiar's exploration to obtain a fire engine for the town and mine.

There are two photographs of a Hub Fire Engine. The Fire truck in the photographs is from the Peachland Fire Department, and was taken in West Summerland BC. The photographs were sent to Cassiar from Hub Fire Engines & Equipment Ltd. so show the equipment they would be receiving if they purchased through Hub Fire Engines. There is a price quote of $15,000 in pen on the back of one of the photographs. The other photograph has a handwritten note to Mr. Royds saying: "This is the unit we would supply, except you would only have the one reel, whereas this [photograph] shows two."

The third photograph is from La France Fire Engine & Foamite. The fire truck depicted is from Prince Albert Fire Department and is a B67 8289 model.

Kutcho Creek Exploration Camp

This collection is of Kutcho Creek Camp that was set up by a crew led by Cassiar's Chief Geologist Bill Plumb in 1966.

There are six photographs showing the temporary buildings, paths and barrels. These photos were taken from a high hill looking down at the camp. Two photographs depicts the valley of Kutcho Creek area, and the exploration camp is in the distance at foot of hill. One photograph depicts valley of Kutcho Creek area with a body of water in foreground, and mountains in background.
Another photograph depicts man believed to be Matt Bell standing in Kutcho Creek exploration camp. There are tents on either side, a wood structure in background and a sign on wood post: "PLUMB BLVD."

Early Cassiar Site

A collection of photographs from the site that Cassiar was being built in the early 50s. Photos depict lumber piles, early camp area, the first buildings, mountains, and the creek.
Along with this collection there are a set of images also from the early Cassiar site mainly depicting a dirt road and various individuals and machinery along it.

View from Asbestos Mountain Looking South - Annotated

Photograph depicts the projected mining area of Asbestos Mountain, taken during the expedition of George Edzerza's party and their exploration of the future mine at Cassiar.

Bill Plumb and Airplane

Photograph depicts Cassiar's Chief Geologist Bill Plumb and unidentified man standing on shore by yellow Cassiar supervisor's truck. Airplane is parked on lake behind them, and miscellaneous equipment lies on shore at Bill's feet. Photograph speculated to have been taken at Aeroplane Lake, approximately 35 miles east of Cassiar. Bill Plumb led many expeditions for the purposes of Cassiar's outside exploration endeavours.

Hammer at Excavated Wall

Photograph depicts a geologist's hammer, believed to belong to Cassiar's Chief Geologist Bill Plumb. The hammer provides a scale for the exposed asbestos, indicating the percent of fibre in the rock as well as the expectation of grade.

Truck on Stewart River Ferry

Photograph depicts freight truck being ferried across the Stewart River, north bound. It is believed that this truck may have been owned by United Keno Hills Mines Ltd. It is speculated that this photograph was taken for research purposes.

Keno Hill - Loading Transport Truck

Photograph depicts a transport truck being loaded with concentrates of silver-lead and zinc ores at Elsa Mill, Mayo Mining district, Y.T (owned by United Keno Hill Mines Ltd.). It is speculated that this photograph may have been kept for research purposes.
