Phipps, Alfred HughSeries consists of five files which are related to surveying experiences in northern BC from 1931 and 1934, personal documents belonging to Phipps and his wife Dorothy Summer Phipps, and documents from the time when Phipps was working in South Africa.
File contains nine driver’s licenses 1936 – 1970, an identification certificate issued by the Department of National Defense, Assessment Notice 1972 for taxation, a document presented by Deputy Minister of National Defense promoting A. H. Phipps to a higher rank, a reference letter dated 16 January 1941, and a document related to a house construction and a signature-book presented to him for his retirement from the B.C. Civil Services.

Bedaux Sub-Arctic Expedition 1934”, a notebook which includes 11 pages of handwritten notes about the expedition, an invitation card for reunion of the personnel of the Bedaux Expedition held in 6 September 1964, and a funeral notice of Monsieur Clovis Balourdet, the mechanic of the expedition.

File contains a memoir, a citizenship certificate, a driver’s license, a memorial invitation card, a garden party invitation card, a Registration Certificate, a document related to real estate and insurance, copies of correspondences of 1928 from E. Whiteaway and co. addressed to Miss D. Summers, partial copies of a report card, a letter from Eugene School addressed to D. Summers, and two photographs.
Series consists of three albums and loose photos, most of which relating to the surveying of Northern BC between 1929 – 1935. The albums in particular, feature photographs from 1929, 1931 and 1935; while the loose photos are mostly dated from 1934 when the Bedaux Expedition was initiated.
