A collection of photographs from the site that Cassiar was being built in the early 50s. Photos depict lumber piles, early camp area, the first buildings, mountains, and the creek.
Along with this collection there are a set of images also from the early Cassiar site mainly depicting a dirt road and various individuals and machinery along it.

Subseries contains material pertaining to employee operations. Includes records of hours worked, payment, first aid treatments received and other employee documentation. Also comprises publications related to employee insurance and unemployment benefits.

Series consists of employee timetables for the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Canadian National Railway, the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, BC Rail, the Great Northern Railway, the Great Northern Railway, the Burlington Northern Railway, the BC Electric Railway, and the BC Harbours Board Railway. Also known as “working timetables”, these are a valuable research tool that include timings at every station or other significant location along the train's journey, the train's reporting number, its maximum speed, and any other information relevant to the operation of the train.

Subseries consists of documents and correspondence regarding the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources and issues about mining, energy generation, and pipelines in northern British Columbia. Includes correspondence about the state of energy in Canada; wind, solar, and other forms of alternative energy; conservation of energy; use of nuclear power, coal, oil, and natural gas in Canada; and general inquiries about the oil and gas industry. Also includes correspondence regarding proposed mining projects, particularly in northern BC; the development of pipelines in Canada; the environmental impacts of mining and pipelines; and inquiries and statements of opinion about proposed pipelines such as the Kitimat-Edmonton pipeline, the Mackenzie Delta pipeline, and the Alaska Alcan pipeline. Supplemental records accompany much of the correspondence and include reference material, newspaper articles, and informational reports.

Images contain technical engineering drawings from the Asbestos Mining Corp. Drawings are primarily of plant buildings and mining and milling equipment, but also include drafts of town site and utilities, (extensive images of water and sewer pipes and septic systems). Microfiche slides are 4.6cm x 3.5cm mounted on 8.3 x 18.2 cm paper cards with systematic puncture marks, presumed to be an antiquated form of computer memory. Slides are numbered ranging from 1001 to 1549 and a drawing number ranging from 1006 to 8008, generally in the format “2017/02/02”. Microfiche are dated 1950- 1976, several are dated “OLD”, and several are undated. All microfilm reels are annotated “CASSIAR ENGINEERING DRAWINGS”.

Subseries consists of correspondence relating to the Department of Environment (Environment Canada), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (Fisheries and Oceans Canada), and environmental issues. Includes correspondence regarding Ministry of Environment programs and procedures; the Canadian forestry industry; forestry licenses; pollution and legislation controls for industry pollution; oil spills; polychlorinated biphenyl pollution; floods and flood control mechanisms; dams and stream diversions; trapping legislation; and wildlife conservation. Also includes correspondence regarding inquiries intro fisheries management legislation and policies; fisheries licensing; salmon fisheries issues; inquiries and statements of opinion about the yearly seal hunt; whale conservation; the economic zone off-shore fishing limits; small craft harbours; sport fishing; and the roe herring fishery. Contains speeches given by the Minister of Environment or given on his behalf and news releases from Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Subseries contains advertisements, catalogues and service manuals for forestry equipment.

This file contains a collection of photographs of Elsa Mine and Venus Mine in the Yukon Territories that were operated by Equipment United Keno Hill, and were subsequently closed after Keno shut down operations in 1989.

It can be assumed that the Cassiar mine was looking at the equipment at Elsa and Venus mine for purchase as the collection depicts various machinery including: shotcrete machine, long hole drill, auger screw, compressed air powered generator, Cat engine, scooptram and slusher from Elsa Mine; and an empty trailer, first aid trailer, compressed air powered tugger, air receivers, cooling system, twist air compressors, and a bit sharpener from Venus Mine.

Handwritten caption beside this photo reads: "Erection of steel framework of Building". Red rectangular equipment stands enclosed in wood frame, which is also being enclosed in the much larger steel frame of the crusher building. Men are working on site, and boom of traveler crane can be seen on right. Other buildings at crusher plant are visible at top of mountain in background.

File contains portraits and sample photographs of exposed asbestos fibre: in veins of rock outcrops, and loose in talus on McDame Mountain (location of Cassiar mine). Some photographs were printed in Cassiar's Annual Reports, with labels and descriptions.

This short colour film depicts logging and sawmill operations at Ferguson Lake in March 1959. Scenes include tree felling, log hauling equipment, the Ferguson Lake lumber yard, use of Ferguson Lake to float logs, and the inside operations of the Ferguson Lake sawmill. Film also includes a brief clip of family film footage of the McKay family home and garden on Melville Street in Prince George with scenes showing a Newfoundland dog named Barney with Donald McKay and Joan McKay.
