Series consists of three albums and loose photos, most of which relating to the surveying of Northern BC between 1929 – 1935. The albums in particular, feature photographs from 1929, 1931 and 1935; while the loose photos are mostly dated from 1934 when the Bedaux Expedition was initiated.

The Phipps-Mackenzie Collection consists of four series. The textual series contains surveying journals and reports mostly related to the Bedaux Expedition and other surveys which took place in northern BC, correspondences and reports from the time when Phipps was working at South Africa with the Bedaux Company, as well as personal documents which belong to A. H. Phipps and his wife, Dorothy E. Phipps (nee Sommers). The photographic series holds three photo albums most of which are related to surveying northern BC in 1929, 1930 and 1935, and some loose photos which mostly reflect Phipps' involvement in the Bedaux Expedition in 1934. The cartographic series includes a map of the traveled route of the surveyors of the Bedaux Expedition. The ephemera series holds two wallets and an award pin.

File contains a Canadian citizenship certificate, driver's licenses, a memorial invitation card, a garden party invitation card from the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, a Registration Certificate, a document related to real estate and insurance, copies of correspondences of 1928 from E. Whiteaway, a partial 1st grade report card, and a letter from Eugene School addressed to D. Summers. Also includes a bound memory book that a young Dorothy gave to her friends to add their drawings, paintings, quotations, and personal notes for her, with the majority of the content from 1918-1922.

File contains nine driver's licenses 1936-1970, an identification certificate issued by the Department of National Defense, a document presented by Deputy Minister of National Defense promoting A. H. Phipps to a higher rank, a reference letter dated 16 January 1941, and a document related to a house construction and a signature-book presented to him for his retirement from the B.C. Civil Services.

Consists of a leather bound autograph book with calligraphy inscription on first page: "Presented to Alfred Hugh Phipps by his friends and colleagues, on the occasion of his retirement from the British Columbia Civil Service. December 31st, 1964, Victoria, B.C." The book is signed by Ray Williston and Bennett (possibly W.A.C. Bennett), among many others.

Consists of a Bedaux unit weekly labour analysis data sheet completed in pencil. It is unclear if this data records A.H. Phipp's own work efficiency, the Bedaux labor measurement utilized on the Bedaux Company in Africa itself, or if it was a training exercise for A.H. Phipps' learning of the Bedaux unit system.

File contains a preliminary plan showing traveled route of the Bedaux Sub-Arctic Expedition in 1934, two newspaper articles from 1935 and 1990, a manuscript “Diary of the Charles E. Bedaux Tractor Expedition from Edmonton to Telegraph Creek 1934”, a typewritten report together with three earlier complete or partial drafts of this report “A. H. Phipps Memoirs of Charles E. Bedaux Sub-Arctic Expedition 1934”, a notebook which includes 11 pages of handwritten notes about the expedition, an invitation card for reunion of the personnel of the Bedaux Expedition held in 6 September 1964, and a funeral notice of Monsieur Clovis Balourdet, the mechanic of the expedition.

Consists of a funeral notice for Clovis Balourdet who died 14 October 1961 at the age of 72 in Paris. Five Citroën automobiles were imported to Canada for the Bedaux Expedition, accompanied by Clovis Balourdet of the Citroën Auto Works in Paris whose duty it was to service the vehicles over the course of the expedition.

Series consists of a blueline copy of Swannell's 1934 "Preliminary plan showing travelled route of the Bedaux Sub-Arctic Expedition" map. Map legend shows expedition route as travelled by tractor, packhorse and boat, as well as camps, horses used, boundaries and elevations.

Consists of A.H. Phipp's daily journal written during a 1931 land survey accompanying Frank Swannell for a Consolidated Mining Company prospecting survey. Persons mentioned include Jim Mackenzie, Emil Bronlund, Forrest, Jack Duncan, Fred Chief, Thorn, and Skookum. Locations listed include Burns Lake, Ootsa Lake, Takla Lake, Babine Lake, Thutade Lake, Stuart Lake, McConnell Creek, Mount Jorgenson, Omineca River, and Germansen Creek. Includes sketch map of Tatlatui Lake area. Although untitled as such, this journal is believed to include daily entries for survey work at Thutade Lake the following year in 1932. Phipps again worked with members of the same team, including Jim Mackenzie. Journal entries from this year only span July 5-21.

2017.6 · Collectie · 1999-2002

The Upper Fraser Historical Geography Project was conducted by UNBC faculty and a team of researchers between 1999 and 2002. The lead researchers were Aileen Espritiu, Gail Fondahl, Greg Halseth, Debra Straussfogel, and Tracy Summerville. The project resulted in the creation of 93 oral history records and their transcripts. Participants included regional forest industry executives, politicians (including former MLA Ray Williston, local mayors and Fraser Fort George Regional District representatives), forest industry workers, and former and contemporary Upper Fraser community residents. The oral histories document the rise, consolidation and demise of the forestry-based settlements along the Upper Fraser River between 1915 and 2000.

Consists of records and collected material relating to Northern BC communities and their forestry and mining resource-based economies. The majority of the holdings are collected materials relating to specific industrial corporations active in Northern BC (e.g. Alcan), such as annual reports and company profiles. The remainder of the records cover resource economy research in Northern BC more generally, such as collected data and analyses.

Consists of records created and collected by Joan Chess as co-chair of the Prince George Land and Resource Management Plan committee. Consists of meeting minutes, background research materials, correspondence, reports, and LRMP plans from other Northern BC regions such as Fort St. John.
