Series documents academic research undertaken by Dr. Marika Ainley throughout her academic career. It contains research material from projects in Ainley's main areas of research, the history of ornithology and the history of early and contemporary women scientists, as well as research on the relationship between early women scientists and Aboriginal peoples. The series is arranged into thirteen subseries: ornithology research, Louise de Kiriline Lawrence and Doris Huestis Speirs correspondence monograph; "Scientists vs. government experts: The wood buffalo controversy, 1920-1991," "Restless energy: A biography of William Rowan, 1891-1957," women in science and engineering research, Catharine Parr Traill, "Critical turning points: Women engineers within and outside the profession," funding applications, North American and Australian indigenous knowledge and science, oral histories, "Creating complicated lives," publications, and Mabel F. Timlin. Series consists of photocopies of articles; correspondence; bibliographies; draft and published versions of articles, conference proceedings, and monographs; interviews and transcripts; recordings of conferences; statistical data; questionnaires; consent, submission, and other forms; pamphlets and other material from conferences; applications for grants and funding; overhead transparencies; photographs; and notes.

Series contains two diplomas awarded to Dr. Ainley by the University of Northern British Columbia, news clippings, and photographs. Series also includes some of her activities during her retirement including her art exhibits, a cruise, and membership in Federation of BC Writers.

Series largely consists of Ainley's administrative activities as professor and chair of the Women's Studies Program at the University of Northern British Columbia. Material is arranged, predominately, according to the activities with which Ainley was involved, including overseeing program restructuring, coverage of the Women's Studies Program in the media, presentations to prospective students, planning for research presentations and conferences, curriculum development and retirement preparation. Series also documents Ainley's appointment as an adjunct professor in the Environmental Studies department at the University of Victoria. The series also includes records concerning Ainley's graduate student research assistants and their work with her. The series consists of memoranda, meeting minutes, reports, posters, speaking notes, correspondence, brochures, pamphlets, articles, course descriptions and syllabi, notes, printed emails, and employment contracts.

The material consists of transcribed copies of Ainley's early articles; drafts of sections, notes, research material and correspondence relating to "Creating Complicated Lives: Women and Science at English-Canadian Universities, 1880-1980"; conference proceedings, research material, notes and correspondence relating to her research project, "Re-explorations: new perspectives on gender, environment and the transfer of knowledge in 19th and 20th century Canada and Australia"; material, predominately course descriptions and syllabi, relating to administering the Women's Studies Program at the University of Northern British Columbia; and photographs and slides relating to both her research and her personal life and hobbies. Series also contains conference proceedings, research notes, bibliographies, curricula vitae and other material.

Consists of two photograph albums that illustrate Parker Bonney's early years as a Forest Engineer. Includes photographs of the expedition to the Nass Valley undertaken by Parker Bonney, Sam Brown, and others. May also include photographs of later surveying expeditions.

Series consists of Alderdice’s records and collected material related to the Kemano Completion Project and his activities as a fisheries biologist. Early material includes research records on total gas pressure and flow analysis research, particularly in regards to the Nechako River, which Alderdice was working on in anticipation of the Nechako River court action. Records regarding the Nechako River court action range from 1984 to 1987, and include correspondence, internal DFO memoranda, and legal documents. Records created by Alderdice after his retirement from DFO in 1987 document his involvement with the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review and his connection to the Siddon v. Mair court case. Also includes copies of publications related to Alderdice’s research and activities, such as reprints of journal articles, scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings.

Mainly includes copies of publications related to Mundie’s research and activities, such as reprints of journal articles, scientific reports, and government publications. Also includes a small portion of correspondence and internal DFO memoranda regarding the Nechako River court action.

Series consists of Hartman’s records and collected material related to his activities as a research scientist, particularly his involvement in the Kemano Completion Project. The majority of the material consists of copies of publications related to Hartman’s research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Includes correspondence regarding the Nechako River court action between DFO, Alcan, and the province and scientific reports that were created in anticipation of the case. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report. In addition, includes records and publications relating to the Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, the Nechako Watershed Council, the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund, and the Nechako River Alliance.

Series consists of Shirvell’s records and collected material related to his activities as a research scientist, particularly his involvement in the Kemano Completion Project. Shirvell’s records are arranged into six subseries:

• literature review, consisting of published material;
• research and publications, consisting of Shirvell’s publications and research material;
• Envirocon and Alcan, consisting of Envirocon and Alcan publications and records;
• Nechako River court action, consisting of records related to the DFO-Alcan court case;
• Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, consisting of material relating to NFCP; and,
• BCUC Kemano Completion Project Review, consisting of records relating to Shirvell’s participation in the public review.
  The majority of the material in all subseries consists of copies of publications related to Shirvell’s activities and research, many of which were written or annotated by him, such as reprints of journal articles, draft scientific reports, government publications, and newspaper clippings. Shirvell’s research records comprise raw data, field notes, memoranda, and draft reports, many of which relate to his 1986 Nechako River salmon overwintering studies. Records regarding the Nechako River court action range from 1980 to 1987, and include correspondence, internal DFO memoranda, legal documents, and related scientific reports. Also includes significant material emanating from the British Columbia Utilities Commission Kemano Completion Project Public Review, such as correspondence, BCUC newsletters and news releases, exhibits and evidence submitted to the review panel, documents produced for the hearings, and the final report.

Series consists of 39 Kodachrome colour slides ca. 1960s taken from ships of ocean scenes and weather balloon launches from unidentified locations, possibly North Coast but also includes images of an unidentified tropical location.

Series consists of records created or accumulated by the Aleza Lake Research Forest Society regarding the research forest's history. Includes oral histories and material from long-time personnel that worked at the ALRF, such as Harry Coates, John Revel, and Frank Hellenius.
