Land surveys were conducted in British Columbia by surveyors George Dawson, the North Coast Land Company, Alfred R.C. Selwyn, and the Geological Survey of Canada during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. James C. Anderson and engineer J. Gill conducted topographical surveys for the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway on Fort George and the Indian Reserve. Surveyors and land plot companies developed the land for sale to promote settlement in the area. Also includes materials regarding the continued development of the City of Prince George throughout the 20th century. The files primarily consist of newspaper clippings, research notes, and photocopied documents.

          File consists of notes and reproductions relating to the North Coast Land Company, Russel Walker, and Rattenbury Lands. The North Coast Land Company owned and sold many plots of land alongside the developing Pacific Great Eastern Railway line in Fort George and Prince George. The company had an office on George Street. Russel Walker was a sales agent and manager of the North Coast Land Company in Fort George and Prince George, Walker had also become the publisher and editor of the Fort George Herald newspaper. Russel Walker worked in Prince George between 1910 and 1916. Rattenbury Lands was a company that held and sold land in the Prince George area during the 1910s and 1920s, as they had taken over most of the land from The North Coast Land Company. File primarily consists of photocopied newspaper clippings, including articles and advertisements for the North Coast Land Company.

          Photograph depicts a group of seven men standing in front of buildings. This is believed to be a cropped copy print of an original photo of the erroneously entitled the "Cairo Gang." Handwritten annotation on verso of photo reads: “Members of IGOE Gang. These were a group of police spies under the leadership of a fearless R.I.C. officer who were brought in from country posts to identify volunteers who would come in from Command Post in the country to visit H.Q. Dublin.” This annotation may be incorrect; instead, the photograph may depict members of the Special Gang "F" Coy. Auxiliary.
