Historically interesting letter from George Hills (1816-1895), the first Anglican bishop of British Columbia (in 1860-1892). The letter contains an extensive quote from the letter by Rev. James Reynard, who built the famous St. Saviour church in Barkerville. Written in the midst of the construction, the letter describes the process: "I have just had an interesting letter from Cariboo in which Mr. Reynard details his recent trials, his difficulty in getting his church built which some have opposed - he had however been at last rewarded by being able to make a start. He says "as a result of all these efforts we do start tomorrow. I am paying two clever builders ten dollars (2 £) a day each to superintend, make foundations & doors, windows, and on Tuesday next I call "a Bee". The freshet has put many men out of work & I have had many offers of free labour. I am under obligation to pay 500 dollars (100 £) as soon as possible for the lumber & the baland 1545 dollars (310 £) by installments. All the church proceeds will be devoted to reduce this and therefore I shall still be almost beggared for another year. I hope soon to send you a sketch of the Church among the Golden Hills." This letter is dated Oct. 10..." Hill also expresses his gratitude "for the kind mention of the Columbia Mission in your interesting work & for the response which you name. It will do if you send the amount you have received to us at the end of the year."

Letter is addressed 70 Upper Berkeley St., London, 23 November 1869.

This 75th anniversary history of the Quest Club presented by Margaret Moffat and Joan Grainger at a celebratory luncheon held at Esther's Inn on October 12th, 1999 was gleaned from the History of the Quest Club prepared by Joy McMillan and Joan Grainger in 1984 for the 60th Anniversary of the Quest Club, and from Minutes of the Quest Club meetings up to 1999.

The Quest Club was started by six Prince George women who quested for more information in all fields of knowledge.

The Canadian National Railway series consists of administrative records, safety records, correspondence between departments, labour records, records pertaining to train movements, maintenance records, and ephemera. Includes publications concerning the topics of unionized labour, railway operation, maintenance of way, handling of hazardous materials, safety, public interest, and the two Royal Tours of 1939 and 1959. Also consists of maps and technical drawings depicting Canadian National Rail lines and equipment.

The Grand Trunk Railway and Grand Trunk Pacific Railway series consists of administrative records, correspondence between railways, and ephemera. Also consists of maps and technical drawings depicting Grand Trunk Railway and Grand Trunk Pacific Railway rail lines and structures.

Pacific Great Eastern Railway series consists of correspondence between departments, records pertaining to train movements, and ephemera. Series includes publications concerning the topics of unionized labour, railway operation, and public interest. Also consists of maps and technical drawings depicting Pacific Great Eastern Railway lines and structures.

The British Columbia Railway (BC Rail) series consists of promotional ephemera material, employee time tables, fare rates and multiple forms, used and unused, pertaining to daily train movements and BCR operations. Several employee manuals, employee examination material, employee seniority listings, and union agreements are also contained within. Three plans detail various BC Rail sites.

The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) series consists of materials documenting CPR operations in British Columbia from 1927-1996. Series includes correspondence, time tables, publications and ephemera used or created by Canadian Pacific. Also comprises tariff and freight materials developed by Canadian National Railways and the Canadian Freight Association used by Canadian Pacific.

This series consists of material created by various societies, companies, railways, unions and government branches for the use and instruction of railway companies and employees. Includes publications, time tables, training materials, union materials, forms, maps and plans related to rail operations in North and South America, but predominately related to Canadian railway operations. Also comprises material created by several American and Canadian railways and transportation companies.

The Fyfe Lake Sawmill series consists of administrative, financial, and operational records created by Fyfe Lake Sawmills. The series includes labour, logging, sale, and order records. Also comprises correspondence between Fyfe Lake Fir and a number of individuals, organizations and companies. Records created by the Northern Interior Lumberman’s Association, equipment manuals, and instructional publications that were collected and used by Fyfe Lake are also included.

The Miscellaneous Forest History Material series consists of material created or used by various logging and pulp mill companies. Includes forms, union materials, maps, plans and other records related to the forestry sector in British Columbia. The series also comprises publications related to equipment and employee training, and correspondence and memorandum developed by B.C. Chemicals, a division of Canfor.

File consists of office files containing individual copies of General Orders # 311-317; records related to BC Police Training School 1937; Calvary Drill instruction; an additional copy of Index to General Orders Nos. 1 – 271; and short histories of the BC Provincial Police.

File contains a 1920 British Columbia Liberal government election platform pamphlet entitled "A Brief Record of the Oliver Government".

This fonds illustrates Walt Taylor’s activities as a social activist in the Okanagan region of B.C. in the 1970s, and his involvement with political-environmental activist movements in the Bulkley Valley-Telkwa-Smithers area c.1980s-1990s. The Taylor fonds includes records of the Skeena Round Table for a Sustainable Society, the Northwest Study Conference Society and the Waging Peace Society; as well as, background research compiled for Taylor’s publication "Waging Peace for a Living: An Action Plan for survival of life on earth", (Victoria: Trafford Publishing, 1999). The Taylor fonds also contains records of significance relating to proposed economic developments, such as open-pit mining, fishing and forestry policies and nuclear power; and documents pertaining to political-environmental actions conducted by Northern BC stakeholders such as First Nations (Gitskan and Wet'su'wet'en) and NGO’s such as the Telkwa Educational Action Committee of Householders. Types of records comprising this fonds include correspondence to and from activist organizations; circulars to society members; background papers on social activist issues; background reports on BC First Nations environmental and land claims issues, background studies on environmental & economic impacts of industrial developments proposed for Northern BC, newspaper clippings, and various publications.

File consists of photocopies of 1960s records from the City of Prince George related to Island Cache that were organized by researchers involved with the Island Cache Recovery Project. Includes an Urban Renewal Report and municipal memoranda.
