Includes correspondence regarding the Progressive Conservative Party, the Communist Party of Canada, the National Liberal Party, and provincial Liberal parties. Most records and correspondence relate to the Liberal Party and include mention of Liberal Party activities and meetings, the official language policy, election strategies, fundraising and donations to the Liberal Party, Campagnolo’s 1979 re-election campaign, political debates, youth caucus events, Liberal appointments, Liberal associations in northern BC, and Liberal conventions.

Includes correspondence regarding economic recovery; the state of the Canadian dollar; the gold industry; home ownership savings plans; the federal debt; banking legislation (Bill C-57 and C-15); the Income Tax act; British Columbia Central Credit Union; the federal budget; life insurance; pension plans; compulsory retirement and retirement savings plans; the Anti-Inflation Board (concerning Bill C-73); wage guidelines; tax increases; rising food prices; import tariffs and excise taxes; and tax deductions and exemptions. Also includes news releases, reports, weekly briefings, and speeches.

Subseries consists of material related to a project titled “Water Politics and Policy in the Lake Superior Basin” and to an unpublished paper titled "The Politics of Environmental Pollution: The Case of Northwestern Ontario.” The research for that latter project was incorporated into other projects at the time such as Weller’s collaborative project with Douglas Nord "Environmental Policy and Political Support in Canada and the United States: A Comparative Analysis.” During this time Weller and Nord also completed two research reports funded by the state of Minnesota and the Canadian Consulate-General in Minneapolis titled “Transborder Politics and Paradiplomacy: The Ontario- Minnesota Fishing Dispute” and “Canada and the United States: An Introduction to a Complex Relationship.” The material includes Weller’s contract with the state of Minnesota along with the text of legislation pertaining to water quality on the Great Lakes and material created by other authors, government bodies in Canada and the United States, and organizations concerned with the state of the great lakes. The research projects identified in the records range the dates 1982-1988. However, some of the items have later dates, suggesting some of the files were used again for research in the 1990s.Some of the later material also pertains to environmental issues in British Columbia instead of the Great Lakes.

Subseries consists of material related to Weller’s roles on the Advisory Committee for the Health Promotion and Prevention Project of the Ontario Council of Health (1983-1984), the Thunder Bay District Health Council (1983-1988), focus group of The Premier's Council on Health Strategy (1987-1988), board of the Victorian Order of Nurses (1987-1988), the study advisory group on the Study on Health and Social Service Professionals in Northern Ontario (1989-1990). The subseries also contains material involved in Weller’s academic research on healthcare in northern regions, specifically the projects titled "The Politics of Health in the Circumpolar North,” "The Delivery of Health Care to Underserviced Areas,” and "Health Care Delivery in Northern Hinterlands.” It also contains research pertaining to the Canada Health Act of 1984. Material includes documents produced for meetings of the advisory committees and Thunder Bay District Health Council, such as minutes and reports, correspondence, and other material produced by these groups as well as government bodies and scholars in the areas of health policy and circumpolar health.

The subseries also comprises material related to conferences and collaborations among universities interested in circumpolar studies, including agreements for student exchanges and records related to research collaborations. The records include publications and other material created by organizations and government bodies responsible for higher education as well as scholarly works by other authors in the areas of higher education and northern studies along with correspondence and notes related to the Weller’s research projects.

A lecture file titled “The Bureaucracy in Third World Nations, No. 23” was empty. Some files contain items with later dates, suggesting their use in a later course.

Includes correspondence regarding construction and development projects in the Skeena riding, the Husky Bushplane, the 1977 drought in northern BC, timber licenses, helicopter logging, the Assistance to Small Enterprise Program, and requests for the extension of the Regional Development Incentives Act. Also includes applications for grants from the Regional Development Incentive Act (RDIA) and the Agricultural and Rural Development Act (ARDA).

Includes correspondence regarding parliamentary procedures, Bill C-84 on parliamentary voting, parliamentary reform, Library of Parliament services, Cabinet meetings, caucus meetings and fundraising, political parties (especially the National Liberal Party and the British Columbia Liberal Party), salaries for Members of Parliament, House of Commons debates and proceedings, tabled legislation, Prime Minister Trudeau’s ministry, the Governor General, visits from the royal family, speeches from the throne, the Order of Canada, Senate meetings and appointments, and parliamentary associations and committees.

The material consists of primarily newspaper clippings and photocopied academic papers. There may be connections between the files and subseries 2, as some of the files in the earlier subseries appear to have been used again in later research.

The material comprises primarily photocopied academic papers and newspaper clippings. The subseries also contains publications, text of speeches and other material created by government officials. The subseries also contains files for chapters of a manuscript; however many files are empty. The empty files are titled: “Definitions and Theories, Chp 1,” “The Land and the Climate, Chp 2,” “Peoples and Patterns of Settlement, Chp 3,” “The Settlement of the Provincial North, Chp 4,” “The Decline of the Resource Economy, Chp 6,” “Race, Ethnicity and the Canadian Provincial North, Chp 10,” and “Conclusions, Chp 14.” There may be connections between this subseries and subseries 3, as the files for earlier projects appear to have been used in later research.

Subseries consists of lecture notes and related material filed by lecture, reading lists and exam questions for the Lakehead University courses “Ontario Politics” and “Canadian Provincial Politics” taught by Weller along with notes outlining a textbook on Ontario politics and information on a student internship program at the Ontario legislature. A lecture file titled “Ontario Ombudsman, No. 26 Ontario Politics” was empty. Weller taught these courses during the years 1974-1982, and one file appears to have been used again at a later date.

Records include brochures, news releases, newspaper clippings, reference material, memoranda, bulletins, and reports. Includes correspondence regarding Registered Home Ownership Savings Plans; complaints about customs seizures, tariffs, duties, and detainment; staffing and locations of customs offices; the granting of charitable status to organizations; tax matters and disputes; tax-free earning allowances; and the proposed tax on loggers’ room and board.

Records include news releases, maps, reports, memoranda, and speeches by Minister of Veteran Affairs Daniel MacDonald. Includes correspondence regarding medical services from the Canadian Pension Commission, Veterans Affairs offices in northern British Columbia. Veterans rights, the fiftieth anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion, and veterans housing under the Veterans Land Act.

Records include copies of legislation, reports, newspaper clippings, and speeches and remarks. Includes correspondence regarding federal and provincial joint projects and provincial executive councils.

Subseries primarily consists of articles by other authors, some with related correspondence between Weller and the author. A large amount of the material is related to health policy specifically in Canada; however, the records also range to health policy in the United States and other countries. The subseries also includes the text of speeches by government officials, publications created by government bodies, newspaper clippings, and other material collected over the course of Weller’s research on health policy. The series contains drafts by Weller with titles which correspond to early papers and chapters of his dissertation: "The Public Interest in Professional Politics: The Case of the Canadian Medical Association,” "Chapter 4: Health Care and Medicare Policy in Ontario," "Health Policy in Ontario," and "The Executive, the Legislature and the Health Policy Process: The Case of Ontario." The first 243 files are primarily scholarly works and government documents individually filed by Weller and generally arranged alphabetically by author. The other 72 files contain notes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other material in files created by Weller in broader files by topic. The bulk of the material was gather around the dates 1975 to 1980, though some files contain items from dates in the mid-1980s and four files with dates into the 1990s suggesting the material was also involved in later research (see subseries 10).

Subseries consists of lecture notes and other material from the course “History of Political Ideas” as well as items from a course of the same title which Weller attended during his undergraduate degree at the University of Hull. Weller taught “History of Political Ideas” during the 1968-1969 academic year at Bishop’s University. One file appears to have been used at a later date (1998).
