Photograph depicts the CP rail and the edge of the Homer St. warehouse complex in Vancouver. The view is looking northeast at the western end of Mainland St. The building is at #1152 Mainland St. The right hand track (man's shadow it) goes down Mainland and is in apparent use. The rail on the left hand track is dated 1938.

Photograph depicts an unnamed harbour road that runs to the north of , and parallel to Water St. The trackage is connected behind the camera to a CPR depot and at the other end to the mainline. No spurs lead off to the docks. The track is not used but usable.

The photo includes an insulated box car of the Southern Pacific Railway, #SP 67343, built in 1961. The track at the right is physically usable but is unused.

Photograph depicts a view in a lane on the south side of the 1300 block of Richards St. in Vancouver. It includes a Louisville & Nashville car # L&N 109534, that is "paper loading only", has blue paintwork, and was built in June 1953. The end of the spur is at about Drake St. but it is covered in gravel for the last 25 yards. The car was spotted at the Cascade Imperial Mills Ltd. located at #1205 Richards St. Two-thirds of the block is occupied by the Johnston Terminals, Merchandise Storage Division. The building has 6 rail access doors but only 4 are in use. There is usually at least 1 car spotted along the building.

Photograph depicts Pier #2 in Vancouver at the north end of Columbia St. It shows disconnected trackage on the east side of the pier that was formerly serviced by the CPR. It has not been in use for some years. The switch fittings were made by the Nelson Iron Works in Seattle.

Photograph depicts a CN boxcar that was 56 years old, having been built in 1918. It had a steel frame, but was also built with wood sides and ends. Located in Dunley Street in the CN yards on the site of the old Hastings Mill.

Photograph depicts a shay locomotive which was last steamed in service on October 9, 1973. Here, it was en-route to the National Museum of Sciene in Ottawa. It was off-loaded at the CPR dock from the Gulf of Georgia barge. Now it was to be loaded onto a depressed flat car for the trip to Ottawa.

Photograph taken on the southwest side of Granville Island. After 2 years of hassle with owner Clay, Davies notes, the city of Vancouver purchased his property so as to re-develop the whole area as part of the False Creek clean up. There was opposition coming from moorage renters.

Photograph depicts the CPR line at the northeast edge of the Drake St. yards, adjacent to the east foot of Nelson St. The box car behind steel in photo is CP #37948, built in May 1946. It has a notice "To be used between Mainland Ice Co., Coach yard, and Coquitlam. It was still there on the 6 March 1975. The spur continues for 200 yards beyond the icehouse and divides into 2 lines to service a plant at 196 Smithe St. The building is now used as an art school and the trackage is disused.
