Historical Language Note: The annotation on photograph verso states "Jack just back after siwash nite on Bobtail". 'Siwash' is a Chinook jargon term which can mean camping without a tent (bivouac) or camping "the way the native peoples do". Modern use of this term may be considered racist or derogatory within some contexts.
